About David

David is a Telford lad and was born in Oakengates the year England last won the world cup. He is married to Lesley, a Dawley lass, and they have always lived in Telford.

David is a graduate of the old Wolverhampton Polytechnic with a BA Hons in Humanities and is a former Local Government Officer working in housing and urban regeneration.

He was a Town Councillor in Oakengates 1989-2000 and a Wrekin District Councillor from 1989-1997 and since being elected Member of Parliament for Telford in June 2001 David has been a member of the Administration Select Committee and Environmental Audit Select Committee. He was a Government Whip.

David is a member of the Chartered Institution of Housing, is active in the Credit Union movement and a former instructor in the Boy's Brigade locally.

His interests include cricket, football and housing.

David has a proud record of standing up for Telford. During his time in Parliament, David has campaigned for better rights at work, improved health services in Telford and against the movement of services to Shrewsbury hospital. He opposed the Iraq war, voting against the Government, but remains 100% behind our troops.
